Also, I found something out I thought I'd share. When I was at the grocery store last week I noticed they had a lot of hamburger that was going out the next day, but hadn't been marked down. I asked the butcher when he was planning on marking it down and he said that if I could just wait a minute, he'd come out and do it for me right then! Lesson learned: Even though you may embarass your husband, it never hurts to ask questions :) (We ended up saving almost $20 on meat!)
The meat man at ours will do a 2nd markdown for me "ms thrifty" to him. As long as its after lunch and no big wheels keeping him busy he doesn't mind at all.
I've figured out why I get so many great markdowns...the 1st markdown happens around lunch time and then again at 4:30 before they start to clean up in the butcher's area. Well I get there right at 4:30! Yay for me!
It always pays to make friends with the meat man. ;)
