Eating from the Pantry: Italian Cheese Bread (Using Philadelphia Cooking Creme)

When the Philadelphia Cooking Creme was on sale at Kroger a couple of months ago I picked up a few packages of each kind. Because it was a new product I wasn't really sure what I was going to use them for and to be honest I find the recipes on their website lacking creativity.

After some searching I found this recipe for Italian Cheese Bread that uses the Philadelphia Italian Cheese & Herb Cooking Creme and knew I wanted to try it.

Italian Cheese Bread
(adapted from this recipe)

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1 tsp salt
4 oz of sharp cheddar cheese, cut into small chunks
1 cup milk
3 Tbsp butter, melted
1 large egg, beaten
1 10oz container Philadelphia Italian Cheese & Herb Cooking Creme

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray and then spread the parmesan cheese along the bottom. Mix all the dry ingredients together; then add cheese chunks in the flour mixture to coat. In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients including the cooking creme.

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined. Mixture will be extremely thick!  Place the batter in the pan and level the top.  Bake 40-50 minutes; let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing.

This is a quick bread so it came together quite nicely. It was quick to put together and had a nice flavor from the Philly Cooking Creme.  It was the perfect compliment to the baked Chicken Parmesan we had for dinner.
